Setting Up Your Own URL/Domain |

Having your own website address is easy with the 2Modern Design Directory! If you have an Enhanced or Premier package, you can use your own profile page within the directory as your company home page. For example, you can tell people to go to directory.2modern.com/your-company, and they will see information about your company, project photos, contact information and more. To take it a step further, if you have your own website name registered (www.your-company.com), you can simply redirect/forward the link to your company profile page within the directory. For example, if you register the name www.your-company.com, you can have the link point to directory.2modern.com/your-company. That way, if anyone types in your website address (www.your-company.com), they will immediately see your company profile page within the directory. A simple way to market your company, have your own web site and get search engine traffic! If you don't yet have an Enhanced or Premier package, please go here to sign up for a Basic listing and then upgrade.
Once you have signed up, you are ready to register your domain. There are several 'domain registrars' out there. It is quick, easy and typically less than $12. We suggest godaddy.com, Network Solutions or Yahoo! Domains, if this is your first time registering a domain. Once the domain is registered, you will need to activate domain forwarding. In the forwarding box, include the URL of your current 2Modern Directory home page (e.g. http://directory.2modern.com/your-company). Here is the technical stuff, but please don't worry, it is easier than it sounds! Make sure to include the http:// in the forwarding location, when asked for the web site you are forwarding to (e.g. http://directory.2modern.com/your-company). If your registrar prompts you to select a 301 redirect or 302 redirect, select the 301 redirect. This will forward users to the http://directory.2modern.com/your-company when they visit www.your-company.com. Forwarding Resources: Please note that all domain services will have simple instructions for registering and forwarding. |
